Our Name

The Meaning Behind Marula Counselling

The name Marula Counselling comes from the Marula Tree found in Southern Africa, West Africa and Madagascar. The history of this tree stretches back at least 10,000 years. The fruit from this tree is an important food source for all of Africa and many parts of the tree are used in traditional medicine. The leaves for example are chewed to reduce heartburn; the oil from the nuts are used in skin treatments and the fruit contains 4x more Vitamin C than an orange! Animals (other than humans) also use the Marula Tree as a food source. Elephants especially enjoy eating the bark, branches and fruit. Rhinoceroses and Giraffes have also been known to enjoy the occasional snack!

We chose the name Marula Counselling because of what it represents to us: Fertility, Family, Nutrition, Medicine and Community. These personal values along with our passion is what we bring to our work everyday. You found us for a reason and we look forward to meeting you.
